within your deepest self, you travel that road to enlightenment alone!

Poem Artwork

This is a lonesome trek

A long winding road

Try as a toad

But I’ll go, what the heck

What’s on the other end?

I don’t know

Knowing will grow

With every bend

I took some proviant

Will it sustain me?

I will see

Took all I had on hand

And all along the way

Threw me some curves

Some unexpected

Surviving every day

Some travellers I met

Some happy and free

Others rather flee

But stood my ground instead

Sometimes the storms blew me adrift

For comfort sake took shelter

Sometimes helter-skelter

My life’s perception it would shift

Some choices I would make

Would bring me searing pain

Learned from most of them distain

Yet kept on trying for wisdoms sake

But many of them brought me succour

Enriched my being

New light be seeing

In all there would occur

Near the end my bones were weary

The bag I carried heavy

Brought me to the levy

All worn out and dreary

Many stood upon that shore

Some were called to board

Still others gathered in a hoard

Knowing what for them in store

Some came to say good by and wailing

Stood in sombre black

Half ways on that track

To board that ship that’s sailing

Waves caressed a new found goal

That bag I had threw overboard

No need now earthly treasures hoard

Kept those that of the soul

Such good messages for living in this penned write. I read it and it is so much info in it. I think you write supremely well and tell it like it is and often times we forget and go astray and make our own loneliness. A trek in the right path will bring us security and meaning to life.

It's important to decide what is important in one's life and get rid of the rest of the "junk."

Oh my! What an image filled write! I could see that road and those who walked on it. The road leading to the shore between heaven and earth! No earthly needs to fill. Oh Jasmin what an inspiring write!
Love,
annie
