An old Auntie sending me a picture of her at sixteen, a beautiful girl with braided hair, like all girls in my youth, ( I remember them well, we used to dip them in the ink wells ha) she used to live in them thar hills with Old Auntie, and she used to look after me every now and then, and she sent pictures of springtime and old memories, darn it I'll get over it.

Lore lei calling!

Oh it was so long ago, so long ago,
In times of spring, the spring of my life,
Where scented winds my locks did blow,
Just goodness and no strife,
I wandered hills so far and wide,
To see my loved ones near,
Not once, from me their love did hide,
Not once, be loved have fear,

The vineyards rows, like Prussian troops,
Fighting up the hills,
Precisely tied in loops,
With all the vintners skills,
Lead on to higher ground,
Where cherry blossom bloom,
Ways up to the castle mount,
In history subsumed,

Winding stairs, lead to the towers brow,
Once knights in shiny armour stood,
In ancient times, just ghosts there now,
Stand proudly there, with them I would,
Across a sea, of flower buds, and scents,
Of chestnut, almond, peach and apricots,
Where the eyes the distance mends,
The golden river Rhine, the land of Gods,

The spring of Siegfried where I stood,
Whereof Odin knew,
It spoke of heroes, old and good,
The dragons, they had slew,
It sings this brook, of ancient songs,
It sings them loud and clear,
To share its message it so longs,
With memories so dear,

We wandered long that babbling brook,
From hills to Netherlands,
We sang its songs, we understood,
In song we joined our hands,
And as we frolicked out of school,
No wonderment we’d miss,
Not history made as fool,
But gave its blessed kiss,

Tears now join the water’s brook,
Of memories long, and distance trek,
The cradle I forsook,
So far away I led,
Like leaving mothers arms,
The milk that stilled my pain,
And all those earthly charms,
I’d like to see again,

The lyre joins its ancient song,
Where spirits water mends,
A sirens flaxen hair so long,
Where gorges water bends,
This song so dear to me, so blessed,
She drowns me in her plaintive tune,
Her ancient bosom bids me rest,
I’ll weep, I’ll be there soon.

Good Morning Jasmin,
Thank You For Taking Me To Your Memory.
I Could See It Clearly In Your Poetic Express.
If That is You Memory WOW!!

We all be lured by the Siren when our boat sails for the last time on the Rhine river towards the vikings Valhalla.
The author wrote an "enchanted" one.

But remembrances such as this, J-H, keep those lives and times a reality! It's what Emile calls "nostalgia", and expressed so very beautifully in this poem. *Sigh*...I'm a believer...
