A thoughtless world.
Tooth paste and hair shampoo,
And little bunnies too,
Rats and mice,
Sugar and spice,
Cats and doggies too,
And the newest glue,
All held together by pain and pleasure,
So much reaction we can measure,
A little tweak and needle work,
A cut here and there, some ego dork,
And viola, all safe and sound,
All on shelves in the market found,
My toothpaste talks to me,
When I asked how it came to be,
Before it nears my mouth,
It was nowhere near a mouse,
I keep close watch on science creations,
Before it gives my heart elation,
That new shampoo, that’s turning blue,
How was it tested for me and you?
How many darling little critters did it hurt?
How many thousand drank a squirt?
To save my hide from poison brew,
How many painful cries to heaven flew?
Would you’ve thought in days gone by?
To share your poison lye,
With your little dog, or critters being,
To see what you’d be seeing,
No you wouldn’t you were brave,
Did not, like Dr. Mengele behaves,
My God do we have to maim or kill,
Just because we have the skill,
Kill millions of our little brethren too,
To save us from the Spanish flu,
Doing what we do, you see,
What right have we to be?

Just because we have the skill?
A question I wish far more of us were asking today, my friend.
This is a fantastic write about what Man deos to helpless animals for selfish reasons.
