Is it what judges eat for breakfast?
That which comes out the other end,
Credence to their judgement lends?
I wonder if the saying thus,
What makes the law an ass?
References are quite numerous,
And some are even humorous,
But why you say make such a fuss,
Just for one, it might be us,
Most to opinions are inclined,
Why not too, a judges mind,
Some, law there too you’ll find,
To yours though, they are blind,
The evidence the lawyers cook,
Then lead him to the book,
Not matter common sense forsook,
Soon free again the crook,
Money and the lawyer’s wit,
Often makes the law a twit,
No matter what the writ,

A judgement about puppy mills,
Up there in them backward hills,
Rewards the owners for libel,
All common sense it kills.

What I've followed in Texas, these puppy-mill owners usually wind up in prison, and can lose their properties in civil suits.
