Delivery

A whisper
carried by the wind,
softly touching
my ear.
Your words touch me,
unexplainably soothing,
one word, one touch,
just sets me off.
Keeping my feelings
at bay,
closely resembling
an unopened package,
bursting at the seams
dying to be released,
just for that one word,
that soft touch.
Do you know what you mean to me?
can you ever be less self absorbed
to see beyond your own Universe
that I still wait for you?
I have been brave,
shoving my intimate feelings,
into one small package,
waiting for the postman to deliver.
Will that delivery ever happen?
Is there no hope of discovery,
can I live without ever knowing you?
I do not believe my heart can sustain.
Each day, each week, each month,
flies by as if one fleeting moment in time,
life is so precious, so beautiful,
but more so because you came into my life.
Ride upon that tattered sailboat,
dredge across your stormy sea,
come to my safe harbor,
and deliver that package to me.

To a heart so beautiful. Lovely the gift will be to your soul.

So emotionally resonant Amber, and I also love Kate's comment below which is as I feel it too.

These are especially lovely verses at the heart of a poem that remains intensely centred in its lovelorn longing and emotional fervour. The sense of that "squeezing" of feeling into the smallest of boxes is very felt and the effect is as if witnessing something precious being constantly, lovingly, wrapped and unwrapped in the finest of tissue, awaiting its time to shine. Yes, just even one glimpse of the Beloved, one brief meeting is perhaps all it takes to be satisfied... and to know. Maybe therein also lies the risk, but I'm sure the bravery you speak of has already considered and conquered that fear. This is totally melting, Amber, in its appreciative reciprocity of the giving and receiving of life's most beautiful gifts: love. xx
