This was written shortly after my first daughter was born and I was suffering a little postpartum depression.

Poem Artwork

Bright Lights and City Lights
Appear to be the same
But when I’m laying alone at night
I only see the pain

You left me here alone one night
waiting for the phone to ring
Wondering if you really cared
That’s when I began to sing

Bright Lights and City Lights
Appear to be the same
But when I’m laying alone at night
I only see the pain

City lights from far away
are beautiful and soft and light
but when I get to close to them
I only see the hurt in them

Bright Lights and City Lights
Appear to be the same
But when I’m laying alone at night
I only see the pain

Now I have a little girl
that doesn’t have a name
But that doesn’t mean that much to her
she doesn’t know the shame

Bright Lights and City Lights
Appear to be the same
But when I’m laying alone at night
I only see the pain

A sad song that rings of a common theme, Marissa. Nicely done. Love and best wishes,

Regis
