Expectations can become a hindrance,
Soon everything becomes an inconvenience,
Turning peace and harmony into a distant experience.
If held on too tight,
You’ll find yourself in fight or flight,
As happiness is no longer in sight.
This is a sign that it’s time for a reset,
Remove the fog and clear your mind-set,
Don’t allow in judgement or pointless hesitation,
For life is too short to hold onto an unrealistic expectation.
Your poem certainly struck home with me. Particularly that last line. It seems like so many of us think that our government can do things for us instead of us being part of getting things done. And when we find out that what we want is not really what we need, perhaps we should stop pursuing it and find ourselves better off.
