Poem Artwork

Vulnerable,
emotions rise on a wave,
fall in saltwater drops that roll
toward the sea of their home in your heart
far away.

Superfluous,
essence I am – redundant
to your completion, ocean whole.
It must seem to you I’ve nothing new
to offer.

Solitary,
extended fall through absence,
and empty air, terrifying.
I scream but no sound is forthcoming.
Falling still…

Dispirited,
shattered love finds another
ground. Yet with second splintering,
more waves; I fall farther, you come near,
then reject.

Understanding,
my mind relinquishes hold,
yields to heart which bows to sure soul,
and again the anguished tide reaches
shores of me.

Disillusioned,
crestfallen and carried on
solemn swells that refuse to have,
hold me as their own, hope dissolves…
salty tears.

The ocean holds such magic for us.
May I refer you to my poem "Pulse."
So much feeling in this, even if you are just that one drop in the sea, it matters.
