Poem Artwork

I took the high road,
spared you searing pain
of knowing what was said.

You took the low and
left a crimson stain,
bounty on my head.

I swallowed my pride,
chose to trust in time,
considered greater good.

You pushed me aside,
no reason or rhyme,
attacked me where I stood

Loyal, devoted whole
to you. Blindsided,
I reeled, am reeling still.

Do you know the toll
of persistent pain,
feel this bone-rattling chill?

Or has your low road
led you far beyond
memory of your deed –

into farther field,
dark territory
of love’s forgotten need?

I know, you think you
are on the high road,
but you falter, you sink.

Please meet me along
way of forgiveness:
no tears, no blood, no ink –

Just extended hand,
heart committed to
reconciliation

And kind eyes that look
on me with cease-fire,
no negotiation.

i like how you ask for forgiveness and at the same time demand reconcilation ... hopefully the results will be fruitful ... as far as poetics is concerned, your tone of voice is penetrating yet soft and the imagery is stimulating and precise ...

Dawn this is heartwrenching. I've been in this place, sometimes nothing works, there's a blind spot on some hearts that can't be
reached.I wish you the best and hope it works, but be preapared if it doesn't.We have to find that place where we can be whole within ourselves, period!

(((dawn)))

o, i felt this one deep in my soul--i agree with sherry on this one. it takes two to tango. if one isn't willing to forgive, they cannot be made to. i know...i'm in that situation now, with family members. all i can do is pray for them...i've forgiven them, and have turned it over to God. only He can work miracles.

Emotive, powerful write--stay strong--

(((HUGS))) and love, karla. :(

Like Sherry, I think your words are blown, like autuumn leaves, on the wind. Seek out a kinder soul who'll exchange with you, word for word.
