With purposeful intent
she proceeds, step by fateful
step into the waters by the shore.

At a slow, steady pace
she immerses herself and
welcomes deep river’s soothing comfort.

Sure of herself, she dips
beneath the water, expels
thick otherworldly air and smiles then.

Liquid relief fills her.
Wilting body, like a prayer,
folds in upon itself, releases.

Arms outstretched, eyes open,
looking up: that is how they
found her floating to deliverance.

Had no idea how to classify this one. Not autobiographical. I just write about it to avoid it. :)
