God,
did you
pluck me whole
from rib of your own,
built of brittle bone
that flatly refuses to
bow, bend or break?
I
crush self,
defined to date
in world of male,
against faith’s stiff,
stony shore: I, a
woman bleeding.
Drained
of strength,
I thrust upward
weakened arms, reach
for self, lost in man,
only to find myself
again in You.
