Dear God, Do You grow flowers in heaven, maybe sweet roses that might be red? Could I ask You please to pick some and lay them on my Mommy’s bed?
Do You have pianos in heaven? If they want to, can angels play? Mommy played such pretty music on our piano here every day.
I hope You don't have mops or brooms, and Angel Mommy can get some rest. At my house Mommy worked so hard to make everything look its best.
Dear God, In heaven, are there angel children? Mommy had so many hugs to share and I’m sad she might get lonely with no one, like me, to hug there.
How about little white kittens? Do You have some of those there too? I gave Mommy one for her birthday but she couldn’t bring him to see You.
One more thing I need to ask You. It’s for sad Daddys and sad kids like me. Are You ever gonna get cell phones? If you do, can Angel Mommy call, please?
I love children, CJ. I have four of my own, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Last Sunday, I had the honor to take my great-grandaughter Reyanna--8 years old--out paddling on a lake with me in my bright red canoe. My calendar is growing quite short nowadays, and I wanted to share a special event with her, just the two of us alone together. The next day she sent me an email saying, "That was awesome!" I was thrilled to tears.
And that's how I felt in reading your heartfelt poem "Mommy Angel," CJ. You have such a unique talent for bringing to the forefront the simplicity of a child's life and their honest questioning of ours.
It's been awhile since I've had the pleasure of reading your work. I haven't noted any recent postings, so I went looking and found this lovely piece. Now, like a little boy receiving a mother's kiss on his scratched knee, I feel so much better. Thank you, CJ, for all you've shared with us and for all I have yet to read. You are one of my all-time favorite writers. And for good reason.
Ho how sweet, I don't know how I missed this one? But I am sure glad I stumbled onto it today. I was just stopping by your den to check in with you, hadn't heard anything in sometime. Hope all finds you well and everything is okay. This was one of the sweetest emotional writes I have read in a while, beautiful my friend!
Blessings,

So...some children do had once a loving mother.
As usual, your poems take the barbs from the heart of many, making them part of a world were love is given, not granted.
I hope God gives cell phones soon, perhaps I too could call someone.

This poem may have the sad undertone of a child losing a Mommy but it celebrates the spirit of a child who is more concerned about others...Mommy...other children...than about the loss of a mom. This poem is superb in its writing, its capture of a childs mind and in the great message we all should learn from it. A Gem for sure CJ.

Oh CJ STOP! Now I'm crying and I have to redo my make-up before I head out! :-) ... You are one of the most talented poets I've ever discovered! Hugs, Amy S
Oh this is so sad and great at the same time. That last stanza is exactly what a little one would think to ask. You are fantastic at childrens poems. Congrats on this one my friend!
This second book in Edie's 'Puddle' series is filled with wonderful catchy rhyming poems that have positive nostalgic messages. Her whimsical illustrations carry the poems along on ripples of warm vibrant colours.
