One of love, one bound by commitment
One so persuasive, though intermittent
Between the two how can she chose
None will win but who will lose

One of want, one of need
Love for both, yet her heart will lead
Directing her where she must go
If she listens carefully she will know

Can the pledge she made be broken
Is her promise a worthless token
She said she’d stay for better or worse
Is it a covenant or dreadful curse

For there is one she gave her vow
And there is one whom she loves now
Both through time stayed by her side
The love of both can’t be denied

Inside this glass house she does dwell
Her hiding mask a thinning veil
His love the stone thrown which shattered
All the tenets she believed that mattered

Once more into her soul he crept
Conflict within, a secret kept
Her heart now living in dual places
She greets the world with two faces

In his heart she’s safe and warm
In his arms she does belong
She sees reflected in his eyes
A fervent flame he can’t disguise

Close her eyes she’ll find him there
Precious truth, stalwart and rare
Her god no more a mystery
A second coming from history

She ponders whether he will wait
Upon uncertain lover’s fate
Passion unhindered has endured
His love is strong so be assured

Once created love will exist
To be embraced, or to resist
Eternal soul mate, love undaunted
She is all he’s ever wanted
