girl interrupted

Poem Artwork

one by one the axe takes a chop
each one in line to wield the axe
secured in the roots
the tree holds the earth
without making sense
a strange night dream
the alarm clock rings
this girl wakes up
rubbing her eyes
removing the matter
it's hard to understand
a girl interrupted

pouring coffee, the weather vane's still
the birds are singing, she opens the window
the cat jumps up to smell the air
she picks a rose, and relocates a snail
thinking of doodles she drew as a child
circles in triangles, inside intricate squares
the teacher called out, seeking an answer
she didn't know, she didn't hear the question
it's hard to understand
a girl interrupted

look out the window, the air is clear
no smog or fog you can see forever
the thought of spheres returns to her mind
they expand and collapse rubbing together
interlinking, creating new shapes
assembling a pattern, resembling a flower
her eyes are tired and start to close
feeling like a hypnotic spell
she watches the code download in her head
symbols and letters of language unknown
it moves too fast to actually read
aware that it's there, is all she knows
the telephone rings, what are you thinking?
it's hard to understand
a girl interrupted

she doesn't know right from wrong
and sorrow was never a competition
everyone suffers and everything's good
she sees the world in another view
finding peace in nothing matters
yet feeling so wounded
when you call her stupid
jolted with sensation of electric pulse
traveling upwards across the sternum
it's agony feeling, yet it's ecstasy too
every nerve ending is pins and needles
she looks around but sees no one there
yet something is triggering inside her being
it's hard to understand
a girl interrupted

impulse before method
original innocence
coherent intelligence
weaving metaphysics
circuits of resonance
reconnecting of conscious
design and progression
new frequency created
evolutionary conduit
of geometric courtship
he awakens her tapestry
because he understands
a girl interrupted

you have created a wonderfully woven look into the intricate mind without intruding on it. The last verse is a jewel. Well done.

Debby, professor...wow!this is excellent! I don't know if we ever can get to the nitty- gritty of how we engender girl/boy interrupted, but I'd love to debate that one;-) Saw the pic ...
