Wearing dawn across her shoulders,
Morning tiptoes, carrying the sun
into noon, hot and breathless
setting Summer free to run.

The blazing sun takes charge.
It rules this Summer day.
Heat soars across the land
in a hot, tortuous array.

It splashes like ocean tides
with steamy vapors of heat,
stifling, burning, searing, so hot
spreading its fire in sheets.

Twilight peeks around the corner,
inviting Summer over her way.
She cloaks it in her darkness
starting Evening's time of day.
