Broken Angels

We help the angels that heaven has sent
Whose wings are crooked and halos quite bent.
Most of them started out beautiful and perfect one day,
But they were neglected, abused, or hurt in some way.
It doesn't take much for a halo to bend,
Angels are quite fragile and on you they depend.
To nuture and protect them they way He intended,
And to always keep them safe with innocence defended.
Sometimes his plan for an angel goes awry,
How could you give up or not even bother to try?

He gave you a miracle and you threw it away,
I guess you'll answer for that someday.
My job isn't to judge you or make you feel bad,
It's to comfort your angel whose feeling quite sad.
I think of you when it's me that they kiss,
Because I know in my heart it's you that they miss.
Start being a parent to you I will plead,
Because no matter what it's you that they need.
As a foster parent I'll always be number two,
Your beautiful angel's heart already belongs to you.

It's true--the child's heart belongs to that parent...
It hurts to know that too many parents don't deserve those loving hearts.
So movingly and wonderfully expressed, Robin...

Bless you Robin for having a heart that cares...and a pen that expresses so well your own sad experience, which has provided you with the ability to point others in the right direction through your gift of writing.
