I'll never forget the time that I saw Herbert Morrison of Hindenburg fame in the backseat of my car with his wife, Mary Ann. Herb was 70 and Mary Ann was, perhaps, 10 years younger. They had just returned from a triumphant trip to Hollywood where Herb was a consultant to the movie, The Hindenburg. They were cuddling and cooing like teenagers on their first backseat trip to the drive-in movie. Love like that never dies.
This is wonderful, Eileen! So beautifully put, and what a lesson for all couples! I had a friend who called his wife "Chubby." She was, and she didn't complain about his name for her, but I often thought how much it must have hurt her and how much love he could have shown if he just called her an endearing name instead.
My daughter and son-in-law always call each other "Sweetheart" even when they are disagreeing--I like that!
