It’s in the whisper of these unconscious thoughts
the river flows…
Calm and serene, cutting through the landscape
of my dreams.
Smooth as the silk of milkweed on the surface,
yet in the murky under-shadows
lies the tempest…
churning with unrest.
Filtering through the perplexities of emotions,
rising with the rapids
are these memories laced with certainty
wrapped in muted colors.
Swirling in the midst of the whirlpool
are all the things I’ve ever done…
swimming within the things I’ve yet to be.
Crashing waves seem to awaken
deep within my soul a yearning…
a grasping for the oars to right my way.
Then as the sun fades on the horizon
I feel the calm,
the graceful sway of tranquil waters once again…
until my thoughts flow upon the winds
with clarity behind my sails.
