I never knew the underlying truth.
I only assumed by the presentation of facts.
(What a vague understanding I comprehended!)
I loved you more as days passed by.
You became an etched pattern within my heart.
Words were said and left unsaid,
we both knew somehow that we belonged.
Left only to thoughts of “what if”,
I felt now what you went through.
You knew “more than” anyone,
you once walked the path
and stood where I am.
If only I could have been “more than”.
Know that I love you “more than” anything.
