Tethers of Another Kind

I often wondered the true

meaning of the word friend,

Its defined as a person you “know well”

and “regard with affection” and “trust”.

Trust being the key factor

in any relationship often leaves

one vulnerable and subject to terms

of endearment or terms of malice.

The fine line between forever and never

titter between emotions of conception;

of words, expression, and reflections,

the truth served as is; the truth.

It amazes me how careless and thoughtless

we are at times with the people we call friends,

Is the true enemy reflected in the mirror

of time, or the tethers of loose binds.

Who are you, a true friend or foe?

Look in the mirror of yesterday

and see with eyes anew,

see pass the surface of doubt

into the depths of the real you.

Who are you, a true friend or foe?

That is always dependent on the reflections we find on the various surfaces of life. Some reflections are distorted and rippled where others echo the true self. Sometimes we cannot see anything other than ourselves looking back. Beautiful and creative viewpoint.

Tracey, very well done. Friend or foe? How are we to know? Do we really trust everyone we call friend or is the word friend meaningless? Very thought provoking. Thank You, my friend. oops!! (lol)
