Special Tree
Mommy has a secret face,
Look, stare into it now and see,
Daddy caused such a disgrace,
Thank God, I no longer think it was me.
Daddy put in our yard a special place,
This giant special tree for you and me
Mommy sent me there to say our grace
We played, then we sang out with glee.
The children played, the tree did sing,
We never questioned the tune.
Happiness came, and joy it did bring,
her branches kept growing and soon,
from miles around people came to see
my Daddy's special tree place
still I know it's only for me 'cause
with each bloom I see Mommy's face
Oh Look! Come quick, there's Sally
There's Jim, Karen, Sue and Pam
They are all standing near the alley
Even rushing as fast as they can
It's that tree, you know the one with the love
Making all our lives easier and more fun
A bird just landed in it, such a pretty dove
Peace resides again, daddy put away his gun

The Special Tree
Mommy has a secret face,
Look, stare into it now and see.
Daddy caused such a disgrace,
Thank God, I no longer think it was me.
Daddy put in our yard a special place,
This giant special tree for you and me.
Mommy sent me there to say our grace,
We played, then we sang out with glee.
That tree has been a haven,
A loving place to hide.
It's heard so many secrets,
I dare not ever confide.
Most people wouldn't understand
The pain some children face,
But my tree has been my comfort
And my saving grace.
Oh Look! Come quick, there's Sally;
There's Jim, Karen, Sue and Pam.
They are all standing near the alley,
Even rushing as fast as they can.
It's that tree, you know the one with the love,
Making all our lives easier and more fun.
A bird just landed in it, such a pretty dove,
Peace resides again, daddy put away his gun.

The Special Tree
Mommy has a sad and secret face,
Look, stare into it now and you will see.
Daddy didn't mean to cause a disgrace,
Thank God, I no longer think it was me.
Daddy put in our yard a special place,
One giant special tree for you and me.
Mommy sent me there to say our grace
We played, then we sang out with glee.
Ring around the rosies,
Will you hold my hand?
By the tree, I buried Daddy's keys -
Now, Mommy won't be mad.
As the tree got old,
Each year we grew.
Only secrets the wind told,
With the leaves the secrets blew.

We'd be interested in some reviews to see which poem represents the one we should publish...
