Swaggies Christmas

Spoken Verse

Have you heard about the Christmas Swaggie they call
King of the outback , well I’d like to share with you a story that goes way back ,
Yes as a matter of fact it was getting close to Christmas and the storm was rising fast
the dust was like a mountain and the sky was over cast
in the shadows without shape or form a swaggie emerged from the storm
he was looking for shelter and somewhere safe away from harm ,
The outback was his Kingdom where he often liked to roam
with his wealth in the pockets of an old drizabone
Well he found an old bark hut there on that Christmas Eve night
and though no lights were on a tree all the stars were shining bright

Verse

Three visitors came calling from a station in the East,
the Jackaroo , flying doctor and a missionary priest
they heard about the swaggie who was out there all alone
with no shelter , food or water and he had no mobile phone

Chorus

It was Christmas in the out back and the swaggie found a home ,
he was wrapped up safe and sound in his old drizabone
King of the outback present and past ,
nothing ever changes for him , its always a Swaggies Christmas

Verse
They all found an old bark hut on that Christmas Eve night
were they shared each others company round a gentle Tilley light
and when morning came the swaggie was gone
and all that remained was a note on the table that said
I’m so glad that you came .
