Holographic Works by Autumn Day

If you have never had the privilege of seeing the Smokies in autumn, you have really missed something. The drought that N.C. has been experiencing makes for a less spectacular fall than we are used to in the Piedmont; even so, it is enough to take your breath away.
Hope you enjoy! Bless you! 'Pea'<3

Poem Artwork

I paused on the way up the drive today.
(Sky and trees paused me, okay?)
Lemon, lime and rust had come out to play
‘neath a big top of blue dolled-up with gray.

Autumn saved her best flags to wave today.
Breeze ruffled them into Van Goghs and Monets.
October tossed pastels leftover from May,
gambled on wine and melon with green appliques.

Acorns took up tap, leaves did ballet.
Picture-book clouds played can’t-catch-me.
The mail in my hand melted away
as air smoothly grabbed and kidnapped me.

Sky and trees paused me all day today
as a Tantalus half moon and half old flame
found me picking leaves from my hair. What a day.
Helped build a bonfire.   Won the game!.

The crunch of cruel boots marched on by (today).
Winter agreed to wait quietly in coach (today)
Not a bird or a squirrel chittered Why (not today).
Get to float, you float. (Day’s a day, okay?)

(Sky and trees re-started me,  you could say.)

This autumn here in Toronto Canada has been exceptionally mild so far. We have lots of rain, and some days it's very windy; but we shouldn't be complaining over here as I know winter isn't so far away from us and I'm sure we will have our share of the chill. Heeeheee!

Wonderful poem great imageries!

I find that the older I get the more I appreciate the beautiful pictures painted by nature.

Great descriptive joy for the season expressed through this poem. I could see and feel the scene; so much so, you made me want to go outside and breath the cool autumn air.

I love the acorns taking up tap. They used to do that on my head when I was growing up. I lived with 22 oaks on a lot 100x150. Good vivid descriptions. Happy fall to you, Pea!!

Truly a poetic fall cornucopia, Pea! You just are so abundant and prolific with color! I printed Holographic Works by Autumn Day and tomorrow I will iron wax paper over a fall leaf to preserve its color and press it in a book sandwiched in between folds of your poem. Thanks for the inspiration!
