Oh no, I've burnt supper again-
No time to fix more..he's coming in.
What will he do to me ..what will he say
I don't want to be hit again today.
He marches in a stern look on his face-
Did'nt you clean today..Just look at this place?
Can't you do anything right - how dumb can you be?
I see his fist coming down on me!
The morning sun .so bright the next day-
Me and my shades on - not much to say.
Hiding from the world in my own silent hell-
Hoping my neighbors won't be able to tell!
I carefully clean so that he won't get mad-
I do all I can ...but my heart is so sad.
No courage to leave this marriage of pain-
I hear him come in from the pouring rain.
My heart stops as he walks up to me-
Oh , why can't he just let me be?
The anger in his eyes - I just can't go on-
So tired ....Please , just leave me alone.
I feel blood on my lips as he knocks me down-
My head is spinning round and round.
I can't take this....No more! No more!
I run for the gun ....he runs for the door.
Terror in his eyes....I point the gun-
Now he is to frightened to run -
Shots fire out in the dark of the nite-
Another wrong..just made right!
Linda, Your Shades are quite different than mine but they have their own private hurts. Only a coward would hit a woman. My respect for these gutless wonders is cipher. Sorry if I sound harsh but I have been married for thirty six years and have never even thought of striking my wife. It is an unnecessary act of violence by a sick person. Your poem reminds me of the book by Stephen King, " Rose Madder" Read it if you get the chance.
A powerful and heartfelt poem, not based on personal experience I hope. Again you have used simple rhyme in an extremelt dramatic way

Oh yes my dear, this poem is right on. Just point the gun and BAM one makes it right. You tell a true story that happens so many times a day. Wouldn't it be great that when this happens ... all the helpless in the world could point the gun and make it right!
No one should suffer and physical violence upon their person. Just let me know it it ever happens to ou and you won't have to pull the trigger. I will. Love and hugs from Bill.
Linda, this is a powerful message that everyone of us needs to pay more attention to. I believe we all know someone who goes through some type of physical or mental abuse at the hands of their loved ones. We should all make more of an effort to help get them out of these situations. Thank you for the reminder.
