Lord, If ever our nation needs prayer
It is today
Television screams the news
Read what the papers have to say
Presidental candidates playing
A game
They need to talk of the future
Not smear each others name
Lay Your hand on our nation, Lord
Take away our fears
We need a great healing, Lord
Would you dry America's tears...

There's children being abused
There's malice in the air
Murderers line death row
We wonder what is fair
Our soldiers are being killed
Our homeless live in the street
There's someone out there somewhere
Who has nothing left to eat
Lay Your hand on our nation, Lord
Take away our fears
We need a great healing, Lord
Would you dry America's tears...

Our flag still waves proudly
We are the land of the free
But at what price is our freedom
If our nations don't agree
Lord, we need your healing touch
Cover us with your grace
If all eyes would be on YOU
Everything would fall into place
Lay Your hand on our nation, Lord
Take away our fears
We need a great healing, Lord
Would you dry America's tears...

So much hatred in this world
Lord, we need You now
I want to make a difference
If you'll only show me how
Teach us to love one another
To put away our guns and knives

I know Your wish for us
Is to live much better lives.
Lay Your hand on our nation, Lord
Take away our fears
We need a great healing, Lord
Would you dry America's tears

Presidental candidates playing
A game
They need to speak of our future
Not smear each others name

Thank you for sharing this special prayer Linda. I am from Canada and I think we are all facing the same problems. Everyone needs to read and pray this.
I have been back on the Den writing poetry for the past month. I really missed not being here.

Your friend Rose

Excellent prayer and sentiment, and very well written,
I am not an American, I am English, but your prayer could have just as easily been written for
England, as we have exactly the same problems.
Thank you for sharing.

Linda, thank you and this is truly one of your greatest pieces, if not the greatest in our country's dire need of divine intervention! Christians must pray without ceasing but all people that consider themselves God's people need to pray! God hears and He does answer, alleluia. Your poem Linda reminds me of 2 Chronicles 7 verse 14: If my people that are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray (etc)........ Your Christian brother Michael, in the Masters service! Peace!!!
