You have gone to the core of America's troubled times. We need the Lord! Keep praying, Linda, especially in this election season. He may choose to discipline us or to have mercy and give us another chance to turn to Him as a nation. May He hear our prayers and heal our nation!

I don't know where you live, but the strangers that I meet are all friendly, open and happy people that generally have troubles (we all do) but take them in stride.

The only trouble I see is when people start to discuss politics and they side with extreme views that are not really what most Americans think or want. The separation of church and state is very important because religion should never drive government by and for "all" of the people..

News outlets get their ratings by views. The more sensational their stories, the more views they receive. Find commentators and reporters raising their voices, excitedly, over even mundane events. With nearly 400 million inhabitants, the trouble we see on television affects only a very small percentage of people. Part of the problem is that almost anyone can take a video of something happening and then get it to a television station where they can get paid for it, and if it's sensational enough, it will make national or international news.

The world is less dangerous and less divisive than it was during the entire 20th century when we didn't have "instant news" and news media purposely covered up infidelity and even minor crimes committed by politicians and other people of power.

You can stop being afraid and start living the good life we have. ;-)
