Jerry's story of his daugher contacting him after so many years touched my heart. His story inspired this poem and got me writing again. I have been depressed and haven't been writing, but when something touches the heart this deeply...A new found daughter...and right at the holidays...who could not be touched. Jerry , I wish you and Candence the BEST and may you both make beautiful memories together.
Years I have thought of you
Tried to stop the pain
Put a smile on my face
To keep from going insane
In my dreams I saw your smile
Wondered if you thought of me
Did life treat you kind
Did you question the powers that be
Little girl, turned woman
Beautiful for my eyes to behold
After years of wondering, wishing
You're leading me out of the cold
Not a dream anymore
You reach out and take my hand
A daughter who never forgotten
A Father's love always stands
Memories being made
So much time to make up for
Thank you, darling daughter
For never closing that door
My happiness is measured tenfold
With every day that goes by
When I look at you , my daughter

Linda with writing as superb as yours, you should never give up your pen! Your voice in poetry is an essential part of life itself. This world would surly be at a loss without your fine wisdom and artistry.
