The sound of the awakening birds just as dawn is breaking....never ceases to amaze me!

Poem Artwork

Just before dawn’s awakening,
When the new day shrugs off
Night’s ornate ebony shawl,
A symphony plays outside my window!
Softly at first, the music steadily builds
To a splendid crescendo,
In the magnificence of the rising sun!
A grand feathered melody
 Rises into the tranquil air,
As dewdrops glitter like diamonds
Randomly strewn across the grass.
Voices raised in perfect harmony,
Bird songs welcome the sun.
Utterly enchanting music,
Beckons me to my windowsill
And I am privy to a concerto
Like nothing else on earth!
Every note is perfection,
As only Nature could ensure,
For the choir is ever changing,
And the songs are never the same.

Cool poem. My neighbor has 4 watch geese. Not sure choir is the right term but it is amusing. Patrick

I think birds put we humans to shame in their totally joyous exuberance to meet the next new day.

I awoke at 4 a.m. this morn, had tea and breakfast, but could not hear nature and the birds chirping, as I have an ear infection and broken ear drum in other ear. It has been keeping me not hearing over a week not, on antibiotics but not kicking in yet. Oh well, have to patiently wait it out to hear those beautiful morning sounds you have described here. Good for you to write these words so nicely.

Beautifully drawn, Annabel. I can almost hear the birds now... Wait a minute! I can hear the birds right now, just outside my window too.

My sparrows are very active at that time of day along with many other birds and it is a glorious awakening.
