January is Altzheimer's Month...a time to recognize this horrible disease that steals our loved ones, imprisioning them within their own minds....I wrote this in memory of my Mother-in-law who suffered from this affliction....

Faces oft familiar But she can’t remember why. She rarely sees a soul she knows And when she does, she cries. She dreams about youthful vigour And she’s in her prime once more! Then she trips on time’s threshold And memory slams the door! All but lost to those she loves They watch her slip away. Into a place beyond their reach Her spirit weaker each day. Lost in a maze, her ravaged mind Will never set her free! She’s biding time until the end When she’ll soar to eternity! © Annabel Sheila

I have watched my own mother in law slip away from us with this terrible disease and now visit two brother in laws who also have it....so sad.

My mother suffered from this disease. The time of recluse is paramount in there minds.

This is a condtion I pray I never have to face, it is hard to see others go thru out..I do however hear of new break through medications!
