There's an ugly old toad in the sugar-cane crop,
it poisons the lizards and snakes,
He is seen on the road
where we hear him explode
with the popping commotion it makes.
The kangaroos hop so afraid they might stop
and be faced with the gloat of the toad,
for more scary are none
than that wart covered one
who lives where the sugar-cane's sowed.
He came not from here,
but be kind to him dear,
for he never wanted to come,
he was forced in a sack
and can never get back,
nor ever forgive what we've done.
So he'll spit and he'll cuss
for he hates all of us
and his children grow billions in score.
and they eat all our frogs
and spit at our dogs
and will ruin us for evermore.
You may say it was dumb,
that we forced him to come,
we should never have gone down that road,
and the worst toad I fear,
is the one with me here
on my bed sits one monstrous toad!
It awoke me just now,
with its feet on my brow
it's a certianty... at ME ...he'll spit ,
and I tell not a lie ,
if I budge I may die ,
so in terror I'm trapped
UNDER IT !
The rhyme, the beat, the meter is superb.
The story is competition winning stuff.
You are a delight! This is a hilarious tale of a "monstorous toad."
I'll read this one to our son Keegan.

I really loved this one Kay
from You'r Pommie Pal Steve
There's a great rhythm to this that carries the reader ever onward and brings them right to your bed to witness the terror.
Marvellous!
Always,
