Poem Artwork

A fleeting dream late at night

Wakes her from sound sleep

Haunting memories flashing by

Into her mind they creep.

She lays there crying silently

Teardrops gently flow

Horror flashes through her mind

Terror starts to grow.

No! It never really happened

Only her dreams

Yet it felt likea  memory

So real were the screams.

Each night as she falls asleep

Lying in her bed

the horror of it all comes back

Living in her head.

Pieces of a complex puzzle

Come to her at night

Mental anguish torturing her

No! this can't be right.

Slowly during her waking hours

Fears begin to grow

Self-hate now consuming her life

Memories come slow.

She never told a living soul

Shame she buried deep

Repressed memories of abuse

Surfaced in her sleep.

Sherry this is wonderful. Abuse is a frightful thing and it has its repurcussions.

How sad, people like to abuse, when love can be much more fun.

Omega Factor by John Henning

Take some time to walk outside of your own mind and into another, walk slowly and carefully; the mind that you step on might be your own.
