Song of Scotland

By Faerieofheart3

Sing to me of Scotland

I long to hear her song

Sing to me of Scotland

'Tis there where I belong

.

Tell me of the trees there

Her flowers and her birds

I think that I shall be there

If you paint it with your words

.

Fashion me a postcard

Let your lips speak for your eyes

Not knowing is what's most hard

Which should be no big surprise

.

Lock me up at Loch Ness

Pray, Nessie I will see

Bolt the door, please, real tight, lest

Nessie might get me

.

Do they play the pipes there

Perhaps they play the flute

The gentlemen in kilts there

I'll bet they are real cute

.

The thistle and the heather

So lovely on the ground

In any kind of weather

I'm sure they can be found

.

My kinfolk, they hail from there

Paxton's their clan name

It feels so awfully unfair

Though no one is to blame

.

America is fine by me

I love her to my core

It's just, sometimes, I long to see

Scotland, there, on her shore

.

Sing to me of Scotland

I long to hear her song

Sing to me of Scotland

'Tis there where I belong

.

Songs of Scotland

By Kathy Lynn

T’is my homeland that endears your heart

With its magic and beauty

Will be my place to start

To read the works of our masters

Will awaken your heart and soul

For to them Scotland was heaven

Not merely a place they called home

We are enshrouded with myths and legends

Some will make your hair stand on end

Then there are others that will engulf you in

Only make you want to read them all again

T’is the home of Wallace and his mighty battles

The English king had a nickname for the Bruce

He laughingly called him the Hobb,

An old word for Robert, but still no excuse

Many famous writers have come from our land

Many a statesmen have served in your country

All trustworthy and all honored men

For justice and freedom they took a stand

T’is a bonnie day before me as I look upon the skies

T’is the fields of heather flowing in the breeze

That brings tears to this Scot’s eyes

There are castles on mountain tops

With froths below them flowing to the sea

All for the protection of the people

Who were so afraid of their enemies

There are no better pipe players

Nor the sounds of flutes that are so grand

They play the songs of long ago

In my bonnie Scotland

The kilts are worn by men of pride

Many battles were fought

With their kinfolk by their side

To keep Scotland free was their cry

I am of the Cummings Clan

A descendent of William De Comyn

A Norman noble granted land

The English king, David 1

T’is my homeland near the sea

With its rolling waves and azure skies

A land of wonderment and beauty

In my heart the only place for me

Sing a song of Scotland

Lassie you just cannot compare

Sing a song of Scotland

Your heart will always be there

Excellent tribute to a beautiful, but harsh land.

It can be hard to dream of elvish things in a dwarfish world. Ha!

But you know, Romance never dies, and keeps overcoming all hardships, kill-joy religions and puritanical regimes.

Very good work; I'm not too far from Scotland - in northern England.
