Parallel Pathways
Our love is an addictive drug for both of us
As toxic as arsenic
As sweet as wild cherry wine
We tried to join our lives once
With different dreams, we walked on parallel pathways
We were young, foolish and so much in love
You needed me to become something I was not
And I needed you to lift me above the sting of my childhood
Through our struggles we failed to see the perfection of our union
We had all the right pieces
But when the puzzle was completed
The picture appeared askew to both of us
We have lived our lives in separate realms
And we both have struggled to find some happiness
Without the other by our side
Both of our souls were broken
The day the dream exploded and I went away
Knowing neither could walk the other’s path
I have learned how to live without you
After all of these long years
Though I have never learned how not to love you
Please stay away, my wounds are forever fresh
I cannot be near you and not bleed
And you cannot be near me and not need what we never found

God bless,
Sandie.
Two people who love deeply and yet cannot be together because each want to travel different paths in life. Painful indeed!

A true poemization of relation's reality poetized with words from the lexicon of the soul under the rhythm of the drums of life... "Parallel Pathways" is a poetic compliance.
I salute You, Sublime Poet!
