it seems as though the soul of this world is indeed a dollar sign ... but we know it can't buy happiness and hope nor raise the caliber of our character nor teach us how to survive the clutches of death ... our true value cannot be banked ...

Sense: some people see dollars and lose it all. Venture capitalists just bought Chrysler for a song. Once they strip and part it out, what will happen to the venerable old marque--follow Pachard and Studebaker?

This truly tells things the way they really are these days. It certainly doesn't matter what we promise or what we believe, it's all about how much the banker says we can have and for what we can do with it. Scary isn't it?
Not too long ago my Son went to buy a new car and found that if he didn't have a huge amount to put down on it, he couldn't get it financed. Those folks had the audacity to call us and want to know if we could help him. As bad as I hated to, I had to turn them down. I felt as though they were trying to force us into doing something we couldnt' afford. In the end, he finally decided to just keep the one he had, but I still feel bad for him.
I wish you the best in getting your house...everyone deserves to own their own home.

Sad how we have come to lean on the almighty dollar instead of THE Almighty. The rich are getting richer, the poor...well, you know. (I'm the latter; no income coming in. Tryin' to get on disability, can't work again. If it weren't for my twin, I'd a been out on the street long ago. Scary!) Very well done, Sherry; brava!

A really well written poem which certainly struck a chord in me as I am going through the same thing and long for those with unearned power over my life to value me for who I am not only what I have-thanks for the write-made me feel less alone

How sadly true in these extremely sad modern times. I think we've strayed far from the right path, and I sadly wonder if we'll ever find the right one again.
