My friend Rosemary mentioned how much she still needs and misses her mom even though she passed a couple of years ago. I woke up this morning with this poem in my head.
This is a beautiful and loving tribute to the one you lost. I used to want to get rid of nicnacs, but then I realized that each one holds a story about the person who gave each piece to me, some of them no longer living. Take care, Corrine Ardoin
Sherry,
I love love love this poem! What a beautiful way to express grief!
So glad you posted this today.
Thank you for opening that "Magic Box of Rain"
Peace, love and light,

From the beginning, I couldn't understand why you are using the mournful, "rain," instead of something more uplifting like, "moments," or "thoughts." And then, I came to the conclusion of your poem where you describe them as all the tears of the relationship that have mellowed into soothing rain and I saw what you really meant by a box of rain.
So rarely does poetry explain itself so clearly. Bravo! No wonder you were so eager to write this poem that popped into your head and share it with your grieving friend.
Let this coming of age story of a boy named Bean take you back to a simple time. Set in a small southern town in the 1960's, encircled by a river and gleaming white cotton fields.
A wicked Cajun Fairy named Robes Pierre entered the impenetrable Magical doll land of Sha Bebe. Queen Faustina, the ruler of the doll land, thought she had destroyed him, but he's back! Will the doll land survive his evil ways?

Those tears changed to healing rain.
