Sometimes, we all feel so alone and wonder...if anyone really listens...A response to a question asked one late night...

Poem Artwork

Listening To You…

Yeah,
I am here,
Listening to the rain tap gently on my window,
Calling me to go out,
Sit in the dark and watch the silver
Fall from the skies…

I don’t say much,
I listen,
And hear so many things,
I hear death whispering,
And the loneliness you are facing tonight.

I have faced that too.

I don’t say much,
I am not afraid to be alone.
Even when I am surrounded by people,
I sit in a far corner and watch them silently.
I listen very well,
And see things others often miss.

Sometimes at night,
When it is so quiet like this,
I like to say the names of people I have met,
Through poetry as they pass through my life.
I like the way they feel on my tongue,
The images they conjure up in my mind.

Many would think I am strange,
To say such things,
But I don’t talk much,
Never found the words,
They stick in my mouth like glue,
But I listen real well.

Late at night,
When the world is sleeping,
You feel so alone,
And wonder what others are doing,
I do too.

I don’t say much,
But I listen,
Sometimes it’s not in what they say,
Or even what they write.
It’s what they feel,
I see it real clear.
Tonight I saw it in you.
Is any one out there?
I am.
I am listening to you now.

here Reatta, I hear you and feel you. I have no problem being alone. I know how to entertain myself. Some people are a pain anyway. I'm also a loner. Other than my wife I don't hang with other people. All I need is my laptop, a phone connection at times, my golf clubs, and my little red truck. I too, like to sat and observe at times. G

Rhetta, as always perfection flows from you pen. How many nights I have wondered if anyone else in the world was as lonely as I was as I looked up at the night sky. You have put that feeling into words beautifully. Great Job.

I met 2 wolves, and wouldn't you know my son couldn't figure out how to use the camera? Oh well.
I know lonliness, and listening.
Beautiful work as always.

Aw, in this day and in this age, this message should resonate throughout the land as something to emulate. Sigh and drat, it probably will not. But it struck a chord here at old AD and that is good. Words to the wise are these wise words.
