He was my father,
But he taught me nothing-
It was my mother,
Who made me what I am-
The will of my soul,
That fought for the freedom and wisdom,
To express the thoughts,
That tore at my heart,
And chattered in my mind…
Thoughts I can’t forget,
Thoughts that creep and slither
In the dead of night,
When all else lie sleeping-
Thoughts that betray me to you,
Thoughts I hide here and there,
And other places I hope you don’t look…
They were never written for you,
They were put there for me to see,
That what I am is real,
That once long ago,
I use to feel…

Bittersweet and yet slightly rebellious and very strong although sad... such wonderful paradoxes -- as in Life, so in Art! Terrific poetry, Reindeer!
Retta, what a wonderful way of expressing a deep emotion. For me it was just the opposite. It was my dad who taught me to be who I am. And he's still teaching me every day thank the Gods of Kindnesses Great
