True story...

Poem Artwork

First Love

I met you in alpha
Then again near omega

I loved you at the inception
Too young to understand
Though the seed of love was planted
You most likely did not notice

Life’s current of circumstances
Quite beyond my control
Carried me away from you
I missed you for awhile

Life’s forces drew me
Threw me
I never forgot you

Then like a miracle
As I near omega
I met you again

You halted my breathing
It felt wonderful
It feels enchanting

Is love alive
Is love alive
Is love alive
So asks Sara in her “Winter Song" *

My love is alive
From where I live
And think of you

Nearing omega
More than ever
I breathe in
Love

*a reference to “Winter Song” by Sara Bareilles (and it is a lovely song)

Regis this poem carries the love of a thousand romantics across years of yearning for their love. Faith and circumstance hold much for our hopes. Beautiful words my friend. Perhaps fate is not yet through with this romance.

Regis I love this poem, everything about it. Especially the feeling it conveys to me. I hope her love is alive for you too.

You'll find her again, Regis, just give it time and go from there. There is someone out there who will love you so much for yourself and then you'll love in return. Believe me, it takes time to find it, but well worth it.

Great write Regis
I too have a first love taken away from me in my youth
Due to relocation on her behave family moved to Chi town
Left me nursing a broken heart for a few years, making me also relocate
Into the U.S. Marines, had contact with her for a while
Then she met someone that reminded her of me and they married
Lord and behold over 50 years ago.......but I still remember her, leaving me wondering dose she ever think about me?.... Peace be with you

I've never compared life to the Greek alphabet, but occasionally to a football game. If omega is the "two minute drill," hold on, Regis. We have some oxygen standing by! :)

Wow! Great nostalgic poetry Regis! This takes me back to Valerie Bauer in the fifth grade. Then Lorraine DiFillippi in the sixth. Valerie was a friend but Lorraine was my first heartbeat and the memory still burns in the stillness of that moment in time. Thank you Regis!
