Limericks are fun if taken in the right context. I love the way they incite "word play." ☺

 A Lady in Red and Other Odd Stories

A Lady in Red

There once was a lady in red,
Who insisted on putting me to bed;
I did not protest,
She put me to the test,
Then told me that I was well-bred.

A Fellow Named Davin

Davin is my friend’s special bro,
He’s hoping for an SRO;
He’ll probably get it,
His gig’s always a hit,
As his fame continues to grow.

Too Much Thinking

A writer did way too much thinking,
So much so that he began stinking;
His words became trite,
And try as he might,
He could not stop his brain from shrinking.

A Fellow Named Brock

There once was a fellow named Brock,
Who met another named Rock;
Brock and Rock fell in love,
They adopted a dove,
After reading books by Doctor Spock.

A Lady Named Dawn

I knew a lady named Dawn,
Who woke at the crack of dawn;
She had a lead foot,
Which she heavily put,
To her gas pedal on the autobahn.

A Lass from Sweden

I once met a lass from Sweden,
Who told me her garden needed weedin’;
She gave me a hoe,
And told me to hoe,
Which I did until my blisters were bleedin’.

A Fellow Named Paul

There once was a fellow named Paul,
Who had more than one favourite doll;
He dressed them himself,
Put them on a shelf,
Then dreamed of going to the ball.

A Lady Named June

There once was a lady named June,
Who could never carry a tune;
When she sang in church,
She made everyone lurch,
And all the dogs bay at the moon.

A Lady Named Joan

A local lady named Joan,
Never gives her dog a bone;
This upsets her puppy,
Because he’s no guppy,
Instead she gives him an ice cream cone.

A Lady Named Ross

There once was a lady named Ross,
Who married a fellow named Hoss;
Although he was big,
She carried a twig,
It was clear who really was boss.

As always, friend Regis, I applaud your many talents and limericks are at the top of that list...thank you again for showering us with your talents, they are always laughable & fun...-e-

I have always enjoyed your limericks poetry. You are right about writers. That is why I choose to write only when I'm inspired. I don't write just for the sake of putting a few words on paper. When I'm inspired I am in my own world. Nothing can stop me from writing.

Great jobs with these, Regis!

Your limericks always slay me! They make me laugh, moan, and concede that sometimes I even see myself in them (i.e. Too Much Thinking, a particular vice of my own).

I once had a chat in the living room in Karachi with a stunningly beautiful young lady in a red sari like that but with much more real gold stitching.

The writer you describe is me. Like the rest of your limericks, interesting conclusions.

The Rock you describe is probably Rock Hudson.

Bouncing words within each limerick.

Laughter is a much needed cure for todays malaise.

Now that's the lady in red I see
every time I hear that song
can't hardly go wrong.
Like your limericks
They just hop along.
