 Summer’s Gone

 
 
Our summer of love
Is over for now
It would seem

Colours of autumn fall
Saying good-bye to summer
Standing under my favourite tree
An oak tree I planted
A banyan tree for you

The loveliness of you
Your ripening buds
Glistening in the setting sun
Of farewell summer
Memories deep-rooted
In my soul
Relief from this unwelcome
Nasty hurtful heat
Gone and replaced
By soothing rain
And your kisses
Are a balm 
For my soul in turmoil
You always make things right

And I

What I do
Is wait for you
To come

Happiness from the past
Our past is the present
Everlasting love
Our future

God
I am grateful
For you
 
My sweetest love
