 Imagining

 

Imagining

You

Are not a mere image

You are uniquely you

You have changed me

In more ways than you might know

I am still here

 

How can I repay such a gift?

 

Now

I ache

Thinking of you

Tears often emerge

From the depths of my soul

As I wait for you

 

I feel quite helpless

Useless comes to mind

Chaff in the wind

Dust in the storm

 

I long to ease your burdens

Make your path smoother

 

I would love to lay a carpet before you

And so I do

A mystically magical carpet

 

As you walk

Towards me

 

I am your carpet

Honoured to greet your feet

And the entire entity of you

 

You know you are loved

 

Your smile tells it all

I sense a great loss here, or perhaps, more of a longing for an essence of a person, human touch, great connection. Sparse words and a slightly mystical feel - I like this one a lot.

"Like a bridge over troubled water, I will lay me down." These words from the classic Simon and Garfunkel song ring true throughout your poem. A very selfless and humble view of life and love. Well done.
