This limerick is about a car I had for a few years back in the day. It was an American Motors Corporation (AMC) Rambler Rogue. Ironically, the car that I got after the Rogue was a Datsun B210. Datsun has become Nissan and now, Nissan has introduced the Nissan Rogue. 🙂 By the way, the word "drogue" here does not mean the French word for "drug." Look it up and learn a new word if you do not already know the meaning. Oh, and yes, that is me on the left when I was a little younger. 😉
It is great how memories of our cars of youth stay with us, in some cases every bit as important a memory as old loves, weddings, friends etc. Well done Regis

Yes, your Rogue was part of AMC's anemic line of low-cost anemic vehicles. They played no part in the muscle car era except their AMX that had a little punch as a pocket rocket.
About all that's left is Jeep. A brand that survives largely on the macho image from World War II rather than the performance of the vehicle, now owned by General Motors after Chrysler had it for a while, I believe.
My brother had a friend who was a big fan of the American Motors Ramblers. In the late 60s he bought some really screaming model with positraction and a huge motor. He was in love with that car and would "burn rubber" at every opportunity. This little limerick was cleaver, Reg. Thanks for the background story, too. I had one coworker who had a Gremlin also an AM vehicle I believe, she dove the heck out of that ugly green little thing. I think the Pacer was a total design dog and perhaps the undoing of AM. They built good cars, but they always missed the mark on their design at a time when "the look" of a vehicle was definitely as important as the durability and dependability. A lot of those old U.S. automakers died around that time but I think AM held out longer than most of the rest.
