ELOQUENTLY PUT...IN SUPPORT OF A FACT THAT APPLIES TO US ALL. NOW, HOW LONG OUR 'RIDE' HERE WILL BE...THAT INFORMATION IS NOT OURS TO KNOW BUT WHAT IS KNOWN IS... WE ALL HAVE A MANDATED SET TIME TO ARRIVE AND DEPART. AMEN. ENJOYED, THANKS FOR SHARING REGIS. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS
A sad, but lovely tribute to those you've loved and somehow lost over the years. I've been fortunate in that I'd not lost a single friend until recently when I lost two, one of them I'd known for 41 years. It's a different kind of grief, isn't it?
This aches out in a silky ribbon of names whose presence on the page, single-file, somehow felt like people important to me because they were people important to you. One long, pause for each name, each person standing alone together. I love “They were not here/For the long ride” — never read this way of saying that. And to top it off, that there are more…..just a stunningly romantic piece, Regis. Thank you ~~ djl
You have written the inevitability we all face for those of us who age well beyond the median and look back at what we've lost.
I am especially touched by the loss of your Sha’Tara, writing with such wisdom and philosophy that I miss after reading all the great philosophers from the first half of the 20th century, now long gone and not replaced. I want to read more; more will not be written, unfortunately.
This book represents a thirty-day period of my poetry journal. Each poem addresses
the dominant thoughts occupying my mind during the early morning hours of a given
day.
