Have you ever wondered how to keep your writing similar to what you’ve done in the past? Where do you start with that? You don’t need to be overly strict but you need some guidelines to be sure your writing has all the ingredients for the perfect children’s story.
One important element to success that you might have overlooked when your write your children’s story is consistency. Does your new story shine with the same unique charm and style that makes your story special?
What are some of the things that identify you as an author?
• Style- Is your style similar to other stories you have written? Remember, your readers are going to compare it to other work you’ve published. Your style should be one that comes naturally to you so that you’re comfortable with it. If you belong to a writer’s group, the members might be able to offer their opinions on whether the style you’ve written matches your past work. If you have a blog, you may choose to check the comments the readers leave for you. Are you attracting the same number of readers as usual? Is your new blog even more popular than past ones? If so, then it’s an indication that your writing is meeting or exceeding your reader’s expectations.
• Does your new blog contain the same elements as past blogs?
Try to take an objective look at what you’ve written. If you normally write with humor, does your new article or story contain something amusing? Is it too serious? If you like to write humorous stories, it’s likely a natural talent of yours so take advantage. Generally, readers love humor, particularly if you’re comfortable writing it.
• Are you passionate about your subject?
No matter what your writing style is, be sure your subject matter is shows you’re passionate about it. For example, if you love dancing, but dislike football, which subject would be more successful for you? You’d be much more comfortable writing about dancing and your enthusiasm will transfer to your readers. If you find football boring, it would be difficult to mask that feeling in your writing. You wouldn’t enjoy writing about football, either, so it wouldn’t be a good topic for your story.
• If you can remember these few suggestions, you may be on your way to writing something spectacular and you’ll have fun creating it.
