Last night was the big event; one that’s been years in the planning stages for years; the opening of the 2012 Olympics in London. Eighty thousand excited fans packed the stadium.Members of the British Royal Family were cheering for their country, and all of the athletes. Prince Harry, Prince William and his bride, Catherine, were in attendance. The Olympic Torch had finally reached it’s destination, after a 12,800 mile trip. Two hundred five countries were represented at this year’s Olympics. Queen Elizabeth was also an honored guest, wearing a beautiful pink outfit. She made a short speech toward the end of the ceremony. Sir Paul McCartney sand “Hey Jude,” to the delight of the audience.
Everyone had been wondering who would light the Olympic Torch. The mystery was finally solved when the honor was given to seven British teenagers. They’ll certainly have wonderful memories and stories to share!
