Why Being A Fan is Good For You 3/13/2019 8:02:57 AM
I think that being a fan of someone we love is a mere demonstration or an expression of the depth of our admiration. Being a fan of someone you adore makes you a devotee, a follower, a support and even a protector for the beloved idol. You become a fan of a singer, sports hero, actor or actress when you connect to them in a certain psychological way.
You feel nostalgic when you listen to your favorite singer crooning a love song. You keep listening to it and muse over it many times. You dwell yourself in the harmony and get to imagine things, at times, romantically. The singer becomes your object of admiration, a larger-than-life idol. You take interest in what he does and want to know him better, his personal likes and dislikes and what he is as a person. You follow every story about his life and the developments going for him or about him. You feel proud of the artist’s accomplishments and being a fan of his.
When a certain song’s message powerfully comes across to you, you would visualize how it affects your own life and how you are inspired by it. It gets your hopes up when you are feeling low. It encourages you to make changes in the way you view and live life. You dream of being one like your idol one day and you take the direction of doing what he does. Some fans follow their idol’s career path and become singers themselves. This time the tide is turned; the fan has become an icon, getting the devotion of fans.
A fan makes ways to meet the idol in person; getting to attend his concerts and appearances. When she does, she feels overwhelming joy, love, and adoration, with tears streaming down her face even. She even shouts “I love you!” above the din of the crowd. It is fanaticism, indeed, yes; that is where the word “fan” is derived.
To someone who has not been through a roller-coaster of emotions for the idolized person, it is absurd. But if you become enamored in one, hearing your singer’s voice will make you emotional. Even if the singer does not know the fan, there is a connection of sorts of a fan to her idol. It is beyond explanation that a fan and an idol have a meeting of emotions, a connection. It would seem to the fan that the singer is directing the message of the song to her alone.
A fan has an affinity with other fans. They are cohesively drawn to the same milieu, a fanship community enjoying the fellowship and influencing one another’s convictions, although they do not see each other face to face. Most fans have something in common like compatibility and loyalty for their idol and for their community.
Being a fan is good for those who are suffering from depression. They can feel a sense of belonging with those who favor the same sports team, for example. They enjoy being affiliated with other fans. They feel good and are encouraged to get out of their shell and enjoy the game.
