Another work week looms :)
Today the weather was nice - around 23/27 celcius with blue skies and little cloud. No rain either. We have a forecast of mid 30 temperatures for later in the week. It's rather nice to be mid January and not knocked out from continual hot days with high humidity. The ground is very dry though and watering the garden only allows a small amount of water to soak into the hard ground. I am seriously considering buying a truck load of mulch to stack on the gardens in an effort to help the plants cope with the extreme dry weather.

My mother in law passed away on Saturday. She was in her early 90s. Although her son (my ex husband) and I have been divorced for 18 years, it's still sad for me to hear that she has passed over. I remember how much she loved my ex and how much she loved our children. I think she liked me best of all when I divorced her son! However, I did meet her when I was 16 so she has been part of my life for 45 years. She had a stroke in her 60s and lived with her daughters from then on - her husband had passed away before she had the stroke. I have seen her now and then since my divorce and she was really nice to me so those memories I will remember above all others, along with her unquestionable love for my children.

I wanted to go to the service but on the other hand, I didn't want to cause any problems either for my kids by going. You would have to know the family history to understand why I feel that way. My ex, in a nursing home with no legs, isn't going to the service as he feels the trip would be too hard for him. I totally agree as it's at a minimum 3 hours each way. The only way I could see him making the journey would be in a disabled taxi where he could sit in his wheelchair.

He was the most important reason for my hesitating about going to the service. I spoke to the eldest of my two sons today and he said I should follow my heart and if I want to go then he will take me with him. He added that if there was a moment when I felt uncomfortable he would bring me home. Now that is love :) As his father isn't going to the service there shouldn't be a problem with me turning up to pay my respects.

Another end to part of my life. My parents are gone, and so are my husband's. My children no longer have grandparents and I am the next generation in line for the end of the road. Scarey proposition that one - hard to believe that I am now amongst the older generation. Strange too how you don't feel like you should be the age that your birthdate tells you you are. Mind you some days I do feel my age, especially if I happen to be watching TV and I fall asleep - yikes!!!

Been fighting this dreaded flu bug for 2 weeks now. I am on my second round of anti biotics in an effort to beat it off. The sinus pain and headaches and the blocked ears have probably been the worst part of this and the only relief is from pills and lots of them. I wake up in the night with a headache and aching face and I have it for a lot of the daylight hours too. It appears to be part and parcel of this flu. The cough is almost gone, as are the sneezing attacks, and yet the rest is lingering. Hopefully in a few days I will have it beaten. I have no sense of smell and very little of taste which is a real shame because no matter what I eat or drink it's all the same.

I haven't had a cigarette for 2 weeks and don't intend to take it up again. One thing different I am doing this time is I am putting aside $140 a fortnight that I would have spent on smokes. One day I will spend it on a good cause, like a holiday. If I don't put it aside it will just disappear with the rest and I think the motivation of seeing the 'kitty' grow will motivate me to continue not smoking. Mind you I would be lying if I said that I didn't, at least once a day, consider the possibility of having just one cigarette.

Time to get ready for the sheets. Until next time, take care :)
