Monday, bluddy Monday The weekends pass so quickly, and the weekdays drag. Part of life :)
We had visitors from Friday night to Sunday mid morning. Friends of my son, from Orange. They have a little screamer who can't speak yet and just screams his displeasure and pleasure. Fortunately I didn't have to hang around too often as they weren't my visitors and I didn't wish to intrude on the time together they had. My bedroom was a refuge a number of times.
Friday after work saw son putting my waterbed back together and, with the hose in through the window, it slowly filled up. With cold water, unfortunately. There were a few factors as to why the hot water wasn't used and at least it was back together by bedtime, even though I couldn't sleep on it because of the cold. Wednesday and Thursday nights I slept in the spare room, but with visitors arriving with the little one, I gave that up and spent Friday night on the lounge. Not a comfortable or restful night. I turned over once and ended up on the floor! My leg ached most of the night and I've been limping around ever since.
Saturday night I braved the bed with a thick lambswool underliner over the bladder. Ahhhh, it was so good to get back into my bed and it feels quite different now with more water in it than has been for some time. I had a lucky run with the bladder as it lasted 16.5 years, so the cost to replace of $249 was a cheap fix. I'm not sure how it got the leak, perhaps Shaye put a toenail through it.
The visitors left after a late brekky yesterday and peace reigned once more. My son is the little one's Godfather, so he loves seeing him, screams and all and that made it all worthwhile.
We went out for a while after they left to look at some houses built by Masterton Homes, at Warwick Farm. They are quite stupendous some of them, with one being so huge that the others were lacking in comparison. It's the first one in the display village too so it would be interesting to know how many of that home they are building. It is over $100,000 more than some of the homes at $300,000 plus. The one I particularly liked would work out at around $250 I guess plus whatever costs to make it a home after it was built. Taking into account the cost of land in and around Sydney - $250,000 or more even in areas that you wouldn't consider living in - it's an expensive exercise to go upmarket a bit. However it's an investment in my son's future as he will own it all one day when I no longer reside in this world.
We have had some very welcome rain that began as a large storm front late Saturday. Not much around during the day yesterday but I heard it raining in the night and heavy showers are predicted for today. That doesn't mean it will rain here though, possibly more will fall near the coast. I planted 4 new tomato plants yesterday so hopefully the rain will set them off well and they will bear fruit before too long. There is nothing quite like a home grown tomato for a bit of bite. The ones we buy don't have much to them at all and most are bland and disappointing.
