Hell Week 3/2/2005 9:03:10 PM
I know that I am not alone this week in that there are probably hundreds of parents and grandparents going through the same hell that I'm enduring. I live in Ohio, which means, as anyone who knows anything about Ohio knows, that I'm dealing with some screwy weather right now. One day you can wear shorts, the next you need a winter jacket. And anyone knows that means, you guessed it, there's a TON of sick Ohioans right now. To top that off, I work in a veritable cess-pool of germs that is structured daycare, so my children and I are exposed to pretty much anything that happens to be floating around the facility at any given time. To cut to the chase, all 3 of my girls came down with scarlet fever this week. SCARLET FRIGGING FEVER!!! I, being a normal parent, freaked out when the doctor calmly told me what the rash infesting my girls was. Isn't scarlet fever deadly? Didn't I feel like an ass; all it is, basicly, is strep throat that has been growing untreated that develops into extremely high fevers and rash (red rash, get it? scarlet fever haha) To top things off, my innocent little angels (snicker) look to me...Mommy...to make it all go away. I can't seem to get them to understand that the only thing that is going to make them better is to take the disgusting antibiotic that their sadistic pediatrician prescribed them. I don't think that anything can make a parent feel worse than having a child say "Make it better" and to not be able to fix it right away. Just venting, as usual; I hate being helpless, especially where my girls are involved. If anyone reading this has a child that is complaining of sore ears CHECK THEIR THROATS!!!! That is what my girls complained about and, of course, the doctor saw nothing in their ears but earwax and meanwhile huge bags of pus were festering in the back of their throats. Blech! Nasty stuff...
