Children and adults can pray any time, in school, at work, in line at the movie. Unless they are sitting next to a psychic, no one will even have to know if they pray while they play video games.
Now that the Lord of the Hypocrites has issued the order, be prepared for his Christian soldiers to lock step, drag out their scripts, and inundate your mail boxes with sappy, counterfeit letters from school children begging for the right to pray in school and stamp In God We Trust on money (their number one god). I had two versions in my mailbox when I started this. Knowing how quickly the Republican army reacts, especially when threatened with a six cent tax raise or two new welfare loafers if they fail to forward the script to twenty of their best friends within the time it takes to bomb an Iraqi school, I’ll probably have a dozen more before I finish.
Maybe I can assist those who don’t take the time to comprehend what they scan, and then spam. No one is suggesting that your children not pray in school, or any other place. Your reaction says your child won’t pray unless forced. That sounds like a personal issue, better addressed at home. Aren’t you the same people that want the schools to stick to the three R’s (please don’t tell me our founding fathers drafted reading, riting, and religion, I know better)?

It is not necessary to make a public display of prayer. Prayer is a conscious connection with a higher belief, it happens in the heart and mind, not the knees, hands or eyelids. It is silent. Again, no one is suggesting that your children not pray.
What I wish is that you would teach your child to realize that not everyone believes in your god, or enjoys your rituals, and that is okay. I wish you would teach your child how to really pray, without demanding an audience.
You can trust in any god or goddess, or collection of the two you want. So, can everyone else. Maybe you can find one who doesn’t require you to document your trust on money. Forgive me for assuming money is the only item. It’s the only one I hear mentioned. Are there other items as well? Would he be happy to see stamped on your wedding pictures? Do you have the ten commandments and In God We Trust posted in your living room? Those would be the most appropriate places, where you would see them most often. Nah, somehow I doubt you want to see them as much as you want to force others to see them. Ever thought about why?
So, Newt Hypocrite Gingrich encourages Republicans to pick issues like school prayer, strengthening work requirements for welfare recipients, and barring the United Nations from monitoring U.S. elections. Very interesting.
